To me, freedom means to be able to express oneself without feeling as though you’re limited. As I was taught, there are different types of freedom. For example, there is “Freedom of speech, or “freedom of acts”, etc. Freedom is about having the power to ‘do’ or ‘say’ things without getting into trouble. In some places of the world, freedom is limited. For instance, in Arab countries, women are limited to do certain things such as marry a guy of their choice, or they can’t wear clothing like we do at school in the public. Another example is before slaves were free, they couldn’t talk back to their master’s, they couldn’t vote, they couldn’t go to certain shops, or even go to school like we could now.
To be free, you need truth. Without truth we can’t really focus on the present or move on from the past.
